Introduction

Hello all,

I just wanted to take a moment and start this blog off with a little introduction about myself.

My name is Jacob Robinson and I am the founder of Dead Head Outdoors. If you found this blog through our website or Instagram page, awesome!

I didn't grow up in a hunting family. My father was, from what I gather, an avid outdoorsman before starting his career in law enforcement and before I was born. Having been in law enforcement myself for right at eight years in South Carolina, I can understand why and how he let it slide by the wayside.

My dad did however take me deer hunting a couple of times growing up and we fished a ton, but most of what I have learned along the way has come from a lot of trial and error that my friends and I experienced growing up and kind of figuring things out for ourselves.

I started Dead Head Outdoors in July of 2023 as a way to generate some passive income and get back into graphic design, as I used to do that before starting my career in law enforcement. I am very thankful for the business that we have gotten since starting. It brings me so much joy to know that people are walking around with my artwork on their shirts, hats, phone cases, etc..

I am starting this blog with the intention of posting at least one post per week of outdoors related content, such as hunting and fishing tips, cool outdoors adventures with my three year old daughter and wild game recipes. Being a single dad with two full time jobs, I will do my best to uphold this goal that I have set for myself.

If that floats your boat, please keep an eye out for future posts!

Thank you for stopping by!

Alaina's First Fish

If you know me personally, then you know that my three year old daughter Alaina is my world and I try to get her out and experiencing life as much as I can. I currently have her for two weeks and we have definitely been staying busy! This past weekend we were invited to a friend of mine's house for a playdate with their children and to do some fishing at a neighborhood pond. Since Alaina had not yet caught her first fish, I seized this opportunity. We quickly ran to our local Bass Pro Shops and secured her own fishing rod, hooks, bobbers and a pack of night-crawlers. Alaina's only specifications for her rod and reel was that they had to be pink. We were able to complete this objective and continued on to complete our mission. Once we got all the kids together and got to the pond, we began our onslaught. Alaina and I were the only ones using live bait. Everyone else and their children decided to stick with lures.  Alaina and I began by fishing near some fallen logs, that I was s
